What a week it’s been and up to now I would probably say the highlight of my life as a published writer. I was lucky enough to be shortlisted for the Joan Hessayon Award and was invited to the summer party in London at the Royal Overseas League. I can’t tell you how excited and nervous I was to be going to London on my own but it was worth every single moment of panic.
I had a fabulous time catching up with so many amazing writers, I got to meet the lovely Jo Thomas who won for her novel The Oyster Catcher. I drank lots of Prosecco with my lovely editors from Carina and fellow Carina authors Jill Steeples, Annie Lyons and Karen Alduous. I also met Susan Willis for the first time who was lovely and had a good catch up with the lovely Deirdre Palmer and Rachael Thomas my fellow Write Romantic Bloggers.
The next morning I took myself off on a tour of London by tube and foot and managed to end up at Covent Garden before the market stalls were set up, Trafalgar Square, The Strand and Oxford Street. By this time my feet were killing, the sun was baking hot and I was ready to get back on the train and sit down for the four hour train journey home. It was a wonderful experience and I couldn’t quite believe it when I found myself sitting in a lovely little coffee shop near to The Embankment tube station watching the world go by.
I was tired but would I do it all again? Yes tomorrow if I could, it was nice to live a glamorous, writing life if only for 24 hours.
