Sisterhood of the World Bloggers Award

sister-hood-award

I’d like to thank the very lovely Sharonbooth.co.uk for nominating me for this award, it’s all about women supporting, inspiring and being there for each other. I love to read inspirational stories about anyone but especially women who have fought hard, worked hard and helped other women to achieve their dreams. It’s a long time since I was at school but I often think what a great impact it would have had on my life when I was fifteen and had no idea what I wanted to do with myself if local, successful businesswomen had come in to talk to us. Inspire us to aim high and follow our dreams, instead of a ten minute career talk with someone who wasn’t remotely interested in anything I wanted to do and spent most of that time doodling on a sheet of paper.

What is your earliest memory?
Running into my mum when I was a toddler and her spilling a cup of hot coffee over my shoulder.

What was your favourite Christmas present?
That is a tie between my typewriter that didn’t really work very well but I still loved it and the plastic greengrocers market stall that had all sorts of fruit and veg on it that I would try and get my family to buy when I was seven.

Who would you like to go on a date with? (excluding current spouse)
Simon Baker because he’s so good looking I could just sip my wine and stare at him, swoon.

Which film would you choose if you could only ever watch one again?
Aliens.

What are you most proud of?
Apart from my kids that would have to be my determination that I would get published, eventually. I worked really hard to write my debut The Ghost House and I have no idea where I found the time or energy with five children and working full time to pursue my dreams but I always believed that it would happen one day.

Which woman in history do you admire the most?
Tough question there are so many, but I think I would say Norma Jean Baker for believing she had something special inside her and then transforming herself into Marilyn Monroe and following her dreams to become a film star.

Which book do you wish you’d written?
The Shining by Stephen King.

What one thing do you think would surprise other people about you?
I have no self confidence.

You’ve had an unexpected windfall of a thousand pounds, what would you spend it on?
A Mac-book Air.

Who is your secret crush?
Kevin Bacon.

It now falls to me to nominate seven other female bloggers, so I choose Annie Lyons, Lucy Cameron, O’Dwyer Author, Alison Gray, Deirdre Palmer, Abbey Mills, Ewe Can Academy If you’ve already done it, my apologies, and you don’t have to take up the banner. It’s entirely up to you.

My questions, should you accept the challenge, are as follows:

What is your dream job?

What could you not live without?

Who inspires/motivates you?

Where is you ideal holiday destination?

If you could arrange a meeting with anyone alive or dead who would it be?

What advice do you wish someone had given you when you were younger?

Have a fabulous week 🙂

Helen xx
